How do I get there?
You can access the Profile page in one of two ways:
- By selecting the relevant hyperlink in the Summary of Matches (Profile Search).
- By selecting multiple entries in the Summary of Matches using the checkboxes and clicking View Profile.
Where can I go from there?
From the Profile page, you can use the Toolbar to refine your original search, move to Full Text Search, open a context-sensitive Help page and consult general information about AABD. You can also return to the Summary of Matches.
What can I do there?
The Profile page enables you to view the records retrieved by a Profile Search and selected via the Summary of Matches.
Each Profile highlights biographical information pertaining to an individual and provides links to relevant full text biographical sketches in AABD. Where available, the Profile contains the following information:
Listed in bold at the top of the Profile, the name indicates person discussed in the Profile.
- Also known as
lists another name the person may be known by.
lists the name of the person's spouse.
lists the date of birth.
lists the date of death.
- Occupation (See Categories of Occupation)
- Biographical Sketch(es)
lists full text biographical sketch(es) identified as having relevant information about the person. Sketches available within AABD are listed by book title and page number of the beginning of the sketch. Each page number is hyperlinked to go directly to that page in the Full Text. A small book icon next to each book title links to bibliographic information in the Biographical Sources page.
Some sketches are available via websites. These links are followed by a World Wide Web icon, indicating that the link is to a website.
lists available illustration(s) of the person. Illustrations are listed by the book title and page number where they appear. Each page number is hyperlinked to go directly to that illustration in the Full Text.
